Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, paid rich tributes to Dr. B. N. Singh, former Chairman-cum-Managing Director of RINL, who passed away on 21-9-2025.  CMD, Directors, CVO, and senior officers of RINL expressed their deep sorrow and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.Dr. Singh, a towering figure in the Indian steel industry, was an outstanding leader and visionary who played a pivotal role in transforming RINL into one of India’s premier steel producers. Taking charge as CMD in 1997, when RINL was facing severe financial distress with accumulated losses of around ₹4,000 crore, he led a historic turnaround of RINL in 2002,. Born in 1948 in Bihar, Dr. Singh held B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD degrees in Metallurgy. Before RINL, he held key positions in TISCO, SAIL, and Rourkela Steel Plant. Post-retirement, he continued to contribute to the steel sector through various advisory and selection committees. RINL family remembered Dr. Singh as a true institution-builder whose leadership, integrity, and humane approach left an indelible mark.
