Valedictory Function of Vigilance Awareness Week–2025 concludes at RINL Sri Srinivas Muppala, IRSME, Zonal Development Commissioner, VSEZ, lauds RINL’s transparency systems and corporate ethical practices

Vigilance Department & Sports Department of RINL organizes Walkathon and Unity Run as Part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 and in commemorating the birth anniversary of Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 and in commemorating the birth anniversary of Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Vigilance Department and Sports Departments of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, organized a Walkathon and Unity Run at Col. C.K. Nayudu Ukku Stadium, Ukkunagaram, today. The event, held in line with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines, witnessed enthusiastic participation of school students from various educational institutions of Ukkunagaram, along with their parents, who took part in the three-kilometre walk/Freedom run through the township.

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, launched Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 today with a solemn pledge-taking ceremony reaffirming its commitment to integrity, transparency, and ethical governance. The “Integrity Pledge,” organized in line with the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), was administered at the Administrative Building of RINL. The ceremony was attended by Sri Arun Kanti  Bagchi, Director (Projects) & Addl. Charge Director (Personnel), Sri G.V.N. Prasad, Director (Commercial) & Addl. Charge Director (Finance), along with Chief General Managers, senior officials, and employees of the company. This year’s theme, “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility,” highlights the collective role of every employee in upholding ethical values and building a corruption-free organisation.

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, paid rich tributes to Dr. B. N. Singh, former Chairman-cum-Managing Director of RINL, who passed away on 21-9-2025.  CMD, Directors, CVO, and senior officers of RINL expressed their deep sorrow and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

In their visit to RINL on 30.01.2025, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam steel plant, Sri HD Kumaraswamy, Hon’ble Union Minister for Steel & Heavy Industries accompanied by Sri Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries expressed confidence that RINL workforce has got the potential to bounce back and march towards profitability. Sri HD Kumaraswamy and Sri Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma accompanied by Members of Parliament  Sri M SriBharat, Sri CM Ramesh, Sri Palla Srinivasa Rao, MLA-Gazuwaka and state president, TDP, Sri Sandeep Poundrik, IAS, Secretary, Steel, Govt. Of India, Dr. Sanjay Roy, Jt. Secy, Ministry of Steel, Sri  Y Satya Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Family welfare & Medical Education, Govt. of AP, Sri Vishnukumar raju, MLA-North, vizag, Former MP(Rajya Sabha) Sri GVL Narasimha rao, Sri AK Saxena, CMD(additional charge), RINL, Sri K Appalanaidu, Hon’ble MP, Vijanayanagaram, Dr SC Pandey, Director (Personnel), Sri Ch SRVGK Ganesh, Director (Finance), Sri GVN Prasad, Director(Commercial), Dr. S. Karuna Raju, IAS, Chief Vigilance Officer, RINL inaugurated Resurgence Park at Blast Furnace -2 area. Later, addressing the RINL collective at Tenetti Viswanadham auditorium of RINL, Sri HD Kumaraswamy congratulated the RINL for their struggle, hard work and commitment towards achieving steady progress in the last 3 months on the production front. Sri HD Kumaraswamy thanked Hon’ble PM Sri Narendra Modi for his great concern and help towards reviving the RINL by sanctioning Rs. 11,440 crores package which is unheard of in the Indian steel industry.

Shri AK Saxena, CMD, MOIL assumed additional charge of the post of CMD at RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam steel plant on 30.09.2024.Soon after assuming charge, Sri AK Saxena interacted with Directors of RINL. Later he visited Blast Furnace 2 (Krishna) and interacted with the officials of Blast Furnace of Visakhapatnam steel plant

Shri Atul Bhatt CMD extends hearty welcome to Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries Shri HD Kumaraswamy

The 42nd formation day of RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant were celebrated on a grand scale at Visakhapatnam steel plant on 8th February, 2024. As part of the celebrations, Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL along with Mrs. Nupur Bhatt, President, Visteel Mahila samithi inaugurated an impressive Exhibition put up by the students of Ukkunagaram schools in the premises of Ukkunagaram Club. Ukkunagaram school children have put up an impressive stall on the themes, science, environment and other society-centric issues. As part of 42nd Formation Day celebrations of RINL, a variety of cultural programs by the Ukkunagaram school students enthralled the audience at the multi-Purpose Hall of Ukkunagaram club of Visakhapatnam steel plant.

Addressing senior executives, employees and other stakeholders at the New Year Celebrations held at MP Hall of Ukkunagaram Club, on 01.01.2024, Shri Atul Bhatt CMD , RINL said “I am confident that 2024 would be a very promising year for RINL “ .He expressed his strong believe in the potential and commitment of the employees and  exhorted them to put their act together to make 2024 a year of turnaround. Shri Atul Bhatt alongwith Sri DK Mohanty, Director(commercial), Dr. SC Pandey, Director (Personnel) and additional charge Director (Finance), sri A.M. Haneef, commandant, CISF cut a cake to mark the New Year celebrations.

RINL-Vizag Steel Plant today joined the Nation in celebrating the 76th  Independence Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety in Ukkunagaram. Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL hoisted the National Flag, took the salute  accorded by the CISF Jawans at the sprawling Trishna Grounds in the Ukkunagaram, today. Addressing the employees and their family members on the occasion, Sri Atul Bhatt  extended his warm Independence Day greetings to all the employees of RINL and their family members, to the members of CISF, Home Guards and Principals, Teachers and students of different schools, Suppliers, Customers, Partners, Stakeholders and each one of our well-wishers who have been associated with RINL in its long journey. An intensive nationwide yearlong campaign Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is being celebrated which focuses on citizen participation, to be converted into a "Janandolan", where small changes, at the local level, adds up to significant national gains. As a part of these celebrations, a special campaign “Har Ghar Tiranga” has been launched to encourage citizens to display the Tri colour in their houses from 13th to 15thof this month” Sri Atul Bhatt added. Highlighting RINL’s commitment to Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Sri Atul Bhatt said that RINL continuous follow-up with the consortium partners led to the stabilization of production of forged wheels at Forged Wheel Plant at Rae Bareli and said that it gives him happiness to announce that, the hot trials for production of LHB wheels has successfully completed and waiting for RDSO clearance to commence regular production from this month itself. RINL, started the new FY22 with the challenge of coal crisis and restriction in production that are continuing from the end of Jan’22. Optimization of various processes, better operating practices and use of reclaimed coal from inaccessible areas etc., were implemented to mitigate the above coal crisis. As the coking coal stocks were depleting, RINL adopted the optimum production model by operating 2 BFs (Blast Furnaces).

An MoU was signed between STPI, STPINEXT and RINL-VSP (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) for Industry 4.0 COE (Kalpataru) for promotion of Innovation & Startup activities for RINL and other industries in and around Visakhapatnam. At a function held at Visakhapatnam Steel plant today, the MoU was exchanged between Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL & Dr .CVD Ram Prasad, Director, STPI. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL who is the chief Mentor behind the CoE, said that the setting up of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) is the need of the hour and it will become an example of industry & academia interface where everyone will come out with a solution which will benefit the country and will usher in a Nationwide movement in digitalisation in steel industry. India is now becoming the epicentre of steel making in the World and India stands as the second largest steel producer in the world and I hope that Vizag will become the hub of providing solutions in steel making to the country”, Sri Atul Bhatt added. The centre for Excellence will go a long way in supporting the “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” of Govt. of India and in incubating start-ups from ideation to product development in Industry 4.0  The CoE is coming up over a built up space of approximately 6000 square feet at Ukkunagaram. The CoE has been named ‘Kalpataru’. It will house an Industrial Robotics lab, an Industrial Drones lab and an Industrial IOT (Internet of Things) lab. The Centre will also be provided with high speed internet and server setup using cloud computing to have capabilities for working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, in tune with the WHO – World No Tobacco Day Campaign, Visakha Steel General Hospital (VSGH) of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in collaboration with Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH&RC) Visakhapatnam conducted an awareness program on the HAZARDS OF TOBACCO USAGE, with the aim of sensitizing the people towards hazards of tobacco use and to promote a tobacco free society, at MP Hall – Ukku Club, today. Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL, the Chief Guest inaugurated the awareness programme in the august presence of Dr. Umesh Mahantshetty , DIRECTOR (HBCH&RC), Directors of RINL, CVO, Dr. Prakash and Dr.Dolorosa Fernandez , Assistant Professor , Department of Preventive Oncology(HBCH&RC), the guest speaker at the awareness program. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL emphasized the need to take Anti-tobacco programs forward vigorously, for prevention of Tobacco induced diseases, among the employees and their families by conducting more awareness camps and screening programs. He called upon the children to become ambassadors in spreading anti-tobacco campaigns.  He appreciated the efforts of VSGH Collective for organizing a very useful session in the interest of one and all.

RINL  launched a tableau today kick starting celebrations under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ Iconic Week being observed by Ministry of Steel starting from 4th to 10th July, 2022.  Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL flagged off a tableau decorated with banners and posters showcasing various achievements and contribution of RINL in Nation building, steel usage, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India and various RINL steel products and their usages. The tableau will move across the city and peripheral areas to raise awareness about ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and steel usage at large. The tableau also consists of photos and details of prestigious national projects where RINL Products are used. The Ministry of Steel is celebrating this week as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari (Peoples’ participation). In line with the directive of the Steel Ministry, Govt. of India, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant will be conducting Iconic week from 4th to 10th July, 2022.  “It gives us immense happiness to launch the Iconic week on a day when our Hon’ble Prime Minister of India is releasing the statue of the great freedom fighter Sri Allluri Sitharamaraju, today, Sri Atul Bhatt said. Sri Atul Bhatt congratulated Corporate Communications of RINL for conceptualizing a beautiful tableau.“We are thankful to the Union Steel Minister & Steel Ministry for conceptualizing a beautiful week long Iconic week not only to showcase our achievements & contribution to the Nation  but also discuss and deliberate on circular economy, safety and good health practices along with our steel fraternity”, Sri Atul Bhatt added.

 “Year 2021-22 has been a year of turnaround and I congratulate RINL collective for achieving a stupendous performance in all areas”, said Sri Atul Bhatt while addressing senior officials and representatives of various unions at a function organized at MP Hall of Ukkunagaram club, today.

Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD RINL inaugurated a 3-day ‘Competency development’ program to Young Mangers of RINL going to be held from 21st to 23rd Feb.2022 at L&DC-conference hall. 

Addressing the RINL fraternity on the occasion of 40th Formation Day of RINL-VSP, Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL, Congratulated the outstanding performance employee award winners and said that, “In a step towards achieving continuous improvement, recently RINL has taken a pledge to accomplish success in all spheres. The award winners would serve as catalysts for promoting an innovative culture across the organization. On this auspicious and historic day, let us rededicate ourselves to take the company to higher horizons of Growth & Prosperity.”

RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant celebrated the 73rd Republic Day with patriotic fervor in Ukkunagaram today. Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL unfurled the National Flag, took the salute and inspected the guard of honor accorded by the CISF Jawans, at the sprawling Trishna Grounds in the township. The function was conducted with a very limited gathering maintaining all Covid protocols and in virtual mode.  The live streaming of the function is arranged through social media facilitated by CC Department.

Team RINL-VSP won the All India Inter-Steel Chess Championship 2021-22 held under the aegis of Steel Plants Sports Board (SPSB) in Main Banquet Hall at Ukku House, Ukkunagaram, Visakhapatnam. Amidst the tough competition between 8 teams from different steel Plants, RINL-VSP won the Winner’s trophy by winning 12 match points and 19 board points. The runner’s trophy is won by Rourkela Steel Plant team. 

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL-VSP) won one “Par Excellence” award and two “Excellence” awards at the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2021), organized by “Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI)”, being held at Hyderabad from 24th  – 27th Nov, 2021.

A pledge was taken by RINL collective, administered by Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD,RINL to take RINL to Greater heights with renewed commitment in the challenging business environment today.
