The RINL Cricket Team emerged victorious in the Steel Plants Sports Board (SPSB) Inter-Steel Plants T20 Cricket Championship 2024-25, defeating Salem Steel Plant by five wickets in the finals held at Bokaro Steel Plant (SAIL) on 15.02.2025. Sri Birendra Kumar Tiwari, Director In-charge, Bokaro Steel Limited, SAIL presented the championship trophy to the RINL team, led by captain Sri A.P. Kiro, Chargeman, Thermal Power Plant(TPP), visakhapatnam steel plant. Sri Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Senior Technician, Sports Department, Visakhapatnam steel plant was declared the Man of the Match (Finals) for his stellar performance. 

 A friendly hockey match was organised at the RINL’ s hockey field, sector -1, ukkunagaram township of Visakhapatnam steel plant today by the Sports department of RINL as a prelude to the National Sports Day on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an Inter School Sports Quiz was organised today to celebrate National Sports Day which is the Birth Anniversary of India’s Hockey Legend, Major Dhyan Chand. The event was held in Multipurpose hall of Ukku Club, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.Sri G. Gandhi Chief general manager (HR-Corp. Services) inaugurated the event in the presence of Sri F. K. Lakra CGM (TA, Law & Contracts) Sri M. S. Kumar GM (Sports) Sri Y. Chandrasekhar GM & HOD (Town Admn) and Sri R. P. Sharma GM (CC) I/c.  The dignitaries offered floral tributes to the Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Sri J. Rahul DGM (HRD) who was the Quiz Master, conducted the Sports quiz in an interesting manner comprising of both Text and Visual Rounds. Sri M. S. Kumar GM (Sports) welcomed the gathering.

RINL celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2020 commemorating the birth anniversary of Late Major ‘Dhyanchand’.  On the occasion of the National Sports Day, on-line Yoga competitions are held for employees and dependents. The competitions are held in four categories, namely 1) Men above 35 years 2) Men below 35 years 3) Women above 35 years and   4) Women below 35 years. A total of 51 men and 49 women participated.          At the valedictory function held in Col. C. K. Naidu Ukku Stadium, was the Chief Guest, Sri Kishore Chandra Das, Director (Personnel) RINL distributed prizes to the Winners. Floral tributes were paid to Major Dhyanchand. Sri M. S. Kumar GM (Sports) welcomed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Kishore Chandra Das mentioned that RINL is encouraging sports since inception and in spite of many constraints due to Covid-19, on-line coaching in various disciplines is being continued by Sports dept. He also stated that once sports activities are resumed, Sports Dept. will be organizing many events in the current financial year.

RINL-Vizag Steel annexed the Inter-Steel Badminton Championship 2019-20 which concluded today evening in the Ukku Indoor Stadium.

The All India Inter-Steel Badminton Championship 2019-20 under the aegis of Steel Plants Sports Board (SPSB) was inaugurated by Sri Kishore Chandra Das, Director (Personnel) RINL in Ukku Indoor Stadium today.

On the occasion of 38th Formation Day, RINL has organized  “Vizag Steel Walkathon” – a novel and unique walkathon was organized by the Central PSU for the first time in Visakhapatnam on 16th February, 2020 at RK Beach, promoting various initiatives being under taken by both Central & State Governments for the welfare and benefit of common people.

RINL-VSP organised a ‘Run for Unity’ in connection with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel today.

Two employees of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant K Prabhu  Naik Naidu, Sri BVSK Lingeswar Rao   brought fame and name to the plant at global level by annexing One Silver and One Bronze Medal respectively at Yonex BWF World Senior Badminton Championship held recently at Katowice, Poland.

Honorable Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Steel Sri Dharmendra Pradhan met Ms  P V Sindhu, Brand Ambassador of RINL-Vizag Steel  and World Badminton Champion in Delhi today. Sri PK Rath, CMD,RINL, Sri KC Das, Director (Personnel), Sri DK Mohanty, Director (Commercial) RINL were present at the felicitation function in Delhi.

The 5th International Yoga Day was celebrated at RINL-VSP in M.P Hall, Ukkunagaram  with active participation from one and all.

The “37th RINL Formation Day” celebrations got off to a glittering start with the participation of Ms PV Sindhu, Brand Ambassador of Vizag Steel today in Ukkunagaram. Sri PK Rath, CMD, RINL,  Sri PJ Vijayakar, CVO, Sri P Raychaudhury, Director (Commercial), Sri KC Das, Director (Personnel), Sri VV Venugopal Rao, Director (Finance), RINl-VSP, Smt Sarada Rath, President of Visteel Mahila Samiti, Sri PV Ramana, father of Sindhu  participated in the celebrations.

Sri Kishore Chandra Das, Director(Personnel) RINL inaugurated a sports event for Special Children in the Col C.K Nayudu Stadium, Ukkunagaram today. For the fifth time Sports Dept. of RINL  organized this event as a CSR activity.

Jindal Steel, Ballari,  displayed their supremacy by lifting the All India Inter Steel Cricket Championship 2018  defeating Tata Steel at the finals held in Col CK Naidu Ukku Stadium. JSW scored 136 runs in 20 overs and won by 10 runs.

RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant  celebrated “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) today to mark the birth anniversary of Sardhar Vallabhbhai Patel with the objective to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of our nation.

Buoyed by the national recognition achieved by RINL in the field of sports, Sri PK Rath, CMD, RINL--VSP interacted with sportspersons, regular coaches of various disciplines,  International and National medalists, Sports department employees,   to enthuse them to further excel in the sports arena. For the first time, RINL was bestowed with “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar” by Hon’ble President of India, in the category of  “Identification and nurturing of budding & young talent”.

RINL-VSP is the proud recipient of Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar-2018. The Award was bestowed on RINL-VSP in recognition of its contribution in the field of  Identifying and Nurturing of Budding Talent in sports.

The 4th International Yoga Day was celebrated at RINL-VSP in M.P Hall, Ukkunagaram Club with much enthusiasm on 21st June,2018.

A friendly Cricket Match was played between RINL - CMD XI and E Co RLY - DRM XI at the Col C K Nayudu Ukku Stadium, Ukkunagaram on Sunday. 

The All India Inter Steel (Steel Plants Sports Board) Hockey  Championship  2017-18 concluded  today. Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP)  won the Championship defeating Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) 2-0 in the finals held in Ukkunagaram today.
